| Bevin P Engelward | has short bio | Bevin Engelward was born in New Haven Connecticut in 1966. She graduated from Choate Rosemary Hall in 1984 and from Yale University in 1988. She married Andrew Ward in 1990 and stated graduate school at the Harvard School of Public Health that same year. Her graduate school mentor was Leona Samson, who introduced her to the field of DNA damage and repair, an area of continued interest. While still a graduate student, she applied to become a faculty member at MIT and joined the Division of Toxicology, which later merged to become part of what is now the Department of Biological Engineering. Her work is focused on DNA damage and genomic stability and she has enjoyed technology development, helping to create new ways to detect genetic changes and DNA damage in human cells. She has two boys, both born before tenure, Taran (2002) and Rowan (2003). On the faculty since 1997, Bevin Engelward is now a tenured associate professor whose greatest enjoyments are teaching, research and the joy of sharing science and helping to train the next generation. | Added |
